Flash or Low Flash Is The Bowling Apparel Question?
As I mentioned in previous posts, I like a flashy bowling shirt for my bowling apparel. As far as bowling shoes, bowling bags, and other bowling equipment I’m mister average. But I believe we have different levels of flash, colorful bowling apparel, at the bowling alley.
First we have the coordinated bowling apparel bowler. Of course this includes the bowling shirt, pants, bowling shoes, bowling bag, bowling wrist support, and if possible the bowling ball? Now there is no mistaking the fashion statement with this coordinated bowling apparel outfit.
Secondly we have the single or double flash bowling apparel outfit. I fall into this category with a colorful bowling shirt, and may be bowling shoes, bowling bag, bowling wrist support, or sweat ban. This isn’t coordinated, but just a splash of colorful taste.
Third we have the color, color all over, thrown together bowling apparel. In this case the colors don’t match or even compliment each other, but are added for a colorful flash mixture. An example would be the Big Lebowski, and not the bowler Jesus.
Finally we have the casual bowler with their bowling apparel. Maybe a solid t-shirt or sweat shirt with blue jeans and not colorfully selected. This is me at practice time t-shirt and jeans, very average and blending in type bowling apparel.
One of the fun points about bowling is the bowling apparel, it’s like a costume or Halloween party every night. You can dress up or dress down as you feel like, and still have fun in the process. Mainly because, your bowling apparel outfit fits you and your game. Even league bowling teams with their team bowling shirts, still can coordinate or not with their bowling apparel. Therefore, what ever your mood or your game, bowling apparel gives you an outlet to express yourself. And then again, change next time to express your other self?
Why Buy Preprinted Custom Bowling Shirt?
Usually, the sponsor buys a custom bowling shirt with their name advertised on it. But sometimes, the team or bowlers buys their own custom bowling shirt for casual or team bowling. Now this custom bowling shirt can be preprinted with an advertisement or interesting team name already on it. If the team doesn’t have a sponsor, then the team or bowler can select a design or statement that is already printed. Why you say? Well how about quality, very colorful, well designed, and cheaper, than if you had to custom print it yourself.
So, if you or your team are looking for a custom bowling shirt, what are your options? Buy a plain shirt or t-shirt, pay for a custom bowling shirt, or something in the middle. The Big Lebowski Movie is the the new ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’, especially the bowling apparel? Theaters are opening up for a revival and a new cult classic? Yes, dress up in your bowling apparel or costume, as your favorite Big Lebowski character, and come on down!
Since the Big Lebowski didn’t have a lot of hype, when it came out to the theaters in 1998, fans are getting their fill now on the big screen, plus. It’s amazing a movie that has been seen dozens of times, is still so popular? Well maybe because, it is now on the big screen again, or the movie goers get to dress up like their favorite characters and in their bowling apparel, or the White Russian-swilling drinks which are available, as supplies last, or just being with the hundreds and hundreds of fans? Then again, it could be the activities, like bobbing for severed toes, throwing a coffee mug at the Dude’s head, as he sits behind the desk, catch the marmot, or the late night atmosphere draw, when the unusual happens? There are even weekend-long festivals popping up around the country, too. Either way, lazy, cool, spiritual, laid back, easy going, slacker, or counter-cultural icon, “The Dude Is Back”!

Summer Cleaning for Fall Bowling Season? | bowling gear
If you are on a bowling league, the summertime is the off season for the majority of bowlers and their bowling gear. It’s like going to school, you’re off during the summer. So what do you do? Well some of my bowling buddies are golfing, motorcycling, boating at the lake, or on vacation. But if you’re a dedicated bowler, you’re thinking Fall League start up!
First you have to lay out your bowling strategy for the up coming season. Do you need a new custom bowling ball? How about a pair of new bowling shoes? Maybe a new wrist support or bowling glove? Then again, if you’re a early bird, be one of the first to order custom bowling shirts for the team? Or, find a bowling team sponsor?
What ever your bowling needs, this is the time to get organized. Check through your bowling gear, and see what can be repaired, cleaned, or replaced. For example, when was the last time you gave the bowling balls a really good cleaning? Or maybe you have a bowling ball in need of resurfacing or reconditioning. Check your finger grips or finger holes for excessive dirt build up, or needed repairs, like chips or cracks around the finger holes. How about your bowling shoes, need repairs, replacing, or just some polish? Don’t forget your bowling glove and wrist support, if they are in need of repairs or replacing? And, can the bowling shirts make it through one more season?
Why am I bring this up now? Well, you have time on your side, and this is bargain time for buying bowling gear. Bowling balls, bowling supplies, bowling bags, bowling shoes, and even bowling shirts are discounted during the off season. So, if you wanted to replace any of your bowling gear, now is the time to look around for deals. Because the prices will go up around the first of August, just in time for Fall Bowling League? Imagine that?
Why Buy a Custom Bowling Shirt?
Not all the teams have a custom bowling shirt, or can afford one. Our sponsor provides my team with custom bowling shirts, as well as sponsors of other teams. But some teams sponsor themselves, and buy their own custom bowling shirts.
Either way, a team bowling shirt does more than look nice. Compared to teams without custom bowling shirts, your team looks more organized, like a baseball or softball team. The custom bowling shirt establishes your team members, anywhere in the bowling center, as being apart of your team. As well as promoting the team as a group, and as a group effort during bowling. With team bowling shirts the individual has more team spirit and support of team members. I have been on teams without custom bowling shirts, and the closeness between the members is more casual than spirited. The team seems to be an individual effort, more than a team supported effort. If you have played on teams of any sport, I believe you would understand, that there is a big difference. An other point is, teams usually stay together longer with team shirts. Teams without custom bowling shirts are usually looking for one or two replacements each year, and sometimes during the year.
Now, if I convinced you of the team’s custom bowling shirts merits, then do it right! Don’t buy a common bowling shirt, but a shirt that is different than the other bowling teams. This makes your team stand out and easy to identify. If you are proud of your team, you want to stand out from the other teams. Think of it like marketing your team to the league and the bowling center. The team doesn’t need a new shirt every year either, as long as the members take care of their shirts.
Believing in yourself and your teammates, as well as team pride, goes a long way in promoting team spirit. Give it a try, and you may be surprised, what your team can do!

Hey, make your team or your group of friends into a bowling theme, like the “Big Lebowski”. Everyone can have the same designed shirts, or just use all different shirts related to the same theme.
Custom bowling shirts can each have a related message about your team or group theme. The Dude, Nice Marmot, The Dude Abides, or Mark It Zero, Dude would be examples of the Big Lebowski. Have fun with your friends and enjoy a light heart atmosphere that your presents provides. Keep it enjoyable and have fun bowling.
Wild Custom Bowling Shirt.
What does your custom bowling shirt say about you and your team? You are average, and blend into the crowd? How can you see your team mates, if all the bowling teams are wearing plain gray, black, and maybe dark green bowling shirts? You can’t!
Well, is it about time people turn their heads, when your team walks into the bowling alley? A custom bowling shirt that can be recognized from a distance as a team mate, or your team colors? If your proud of your team and team mates, I would think so.
This year, it was my turn to pick out the team’s custom bowling shirt color. I picked gold! They laughed at me, and thought I was kidding. I said “No, not another team here has a brightly colored bowling shirt”. You can’t pick one team member from another team at a distance, or sometimes even close up. The teams all look the same, what is up with that? Don’t you want to stand out, and show that your team is unique? Well I got a lot of jokes about how bright my team’s shirts were. And my team joked too, at the start of the bowling season. But then we started to win and win and win game after game. The other teams just scratch their heads, how are these guy doing it? My team doesn’t know either. But this is the first time in the 10 years, all my team mates are wearing their bowling shirt every night! Of course it helps a little, when your in 1st place too?

Custom Bowling Shirts are Great.
Bowling is a chance to escape the outside world even for only 3 or more hours. Something about the challenge of competition between you, your team mates, your bowling ball, the pins, the changing lane conditions, the opposing team, and lady luck. You want everything to work smoothly from your foot work and shoes to your bowling ball and your release. Then, if your calculations are correct, and everything cooperates, you get a strike! But now, can you do it again?
Well let me tell you, a bowling shirt that is too tight, or binds when you release the bowling ball, isn’t one of my favorite things! I enjoy bowling in my custom bowling shirt, the classic style of course, or if the team makes me, a loose polo. No restrictions, ease of movement, cool to wear, and covers my beer belly, too. What could be finer? A 300 game? No, no, no too much pressure!
Wednesday Night Bowling
After ending my career as a collegiate athlete, I began to look for other avenues to satisfy my competitive urges. Not having enough time to go into intensive physical training, I wanted to find a sport that I could participate in casually but still be competitive. I found a local bowling alley that offered leagues on Wednesday nights, and after attending a few times I was hooked.
My friends and I scrambled to put together a team before the next league started and even had our own custom bowling shirts printed up. Admittedly, we struggled in our first few matches, as we were far from seasoned pros. We have definitely improved as the season has progressed, but I think that we’ll have to wait until next year to vie for the title.
